| By Air & Car Major airlines serve the Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Denver airports, while smaller airlines offer scheduled flights to Flagstaff, Arizona, and Farmington, New Mexico, just outside the Navajo Nation. Rental cars are available at all these airports. Flagstaff and Farmington are each about 150 miles, or three hours drive, from Monument Valley. By Car From the north, follow Hwy 191 from Moab, Utah, through Monticello and Blanding to Bluff. Then take Hwy 163 to Monument Valley. The best road map for the region is the widely available AAA Indian Country map. Monument Valley is not far from many other well- known tourist destinations of the Southwest. For example: From the south entrance of the Grand Canyon: about 170 miles, or 3 hours drive. From Page, Arizona, and Lake Powell: about 125 miles, or 2 hours drive. From Moab, Utah, and Arches National Park: about 150 miles, or 2 1/2 hours drive. From Cortez and Mesa Verde National Park: about 120 miles, or 2 hours drive. From Chinle and Canyon de Chelly: about 90 miles, or 1 1/2 hours drive. By Air Direct |
